RF Notes

The RF Notes are a collection of informal NSCL RF Group notes started by the late Jack Riedel in 1976 and spanning the period starting with the inception of the K500 Superconducting Cyclotron and proceeding through the development of the K1200 Superconducting Cyclotron (formally called the K800) and beyond. These notes provide a historical perspective of the laboratory as it grew from a small organization to what it has become today. The notes span the gambit from humorous to insightful to highly useful information. I occasionally will pen one of these to this day.

Megatron Project

The "Megatron" was a project led by MIT to design and test a compact superconducting 250 MeV proton cyclotron capable of delivering a cw intensity of up to 250 KW. The project was on track and schedule but was cancelled due to a withdrawal of project funding from the sponsoring government agency.
